A494 Safety

We call on the Welsh Government to keep to its word and look at safety improvements for the A494.

In 2021 the Welsh Government said that they would look ti improve the safety of the A494, between Dolgellau an Dwyryd (Druids) in 2023. They have now gone back on their word and said that nothing will be done until 2025. The road is dangerous and we are seeing far too many fatalities and serious accidents on the road. This is a public health concern and also causes great anxieties for those communities along the road.

We insist that the Government honours its promise and carries out the necessary assessments in order to improve the safety of the A494.

This road has nearly killed me and my family several times. Infact it’s has such a reputation locally that some of us call it “death row-d”. It needs an average speed camera system for 50mph, similar to the one on the road to Wrexham which has reduces crashes and made people act more responsible because they are caught on cameras.
