INCREASE TAX THRESHOLD FOR TRAVELLING COSTS - CYNNYDD YN NHROTHWY TRETH AR GYFER COSTAU TEITHIO

Rydym ni, sydd wedi llofnodi isod, yn galw ar Drysorlys EM i gynyddu’r trothwy treth ar gyfer costau teithio a delir i weithwyr yr awdurdod lleol yng Ngwynedd i adlewyrchu’r argyfwng costau byw sy’n gwaethygu, ynghyd a natur wledig yr ardal y maent yn gweithio ynddi, sy’n aml yn mynnu bod gweithwyr yn teithio’n bell ac yn eu cerbyd eu hunain.

Mae'r cynnydd sylweddol mewn costau tanwydd ynghyd â chwyddiant a chyfraddau llog cynyddol eisoes yn effeithio'n ddifrifol ar ofalwyr a'r rhai sy'n cefnogi pobl fregus yn y gymuned.

Dylid adolygu’r trothwy ar gyfer codi treth ar gostau teithio a’i gynyddu er mwyn helpu i liniaru’r baich ar weithwyr sy’n ddibynnol ar eu cerbydau eu hunain i deithio yn rhinwedd eu swydd, a dylai adlewyrchu gwir gost tanwydd ynghyd a defnydd cerbydau gan weithwyr at ddefnydd busnes.

We, the undersigned call on HM Treasury to increase the tax threshold for travelling costs paid to local authority employees in Gwynedd to reflect the worsening cost of living crisis and the rurality of the area in which they work, which often demands that employees travel great distances in their own vehicle.

The exponential rise in fuel costs coupled with soaring inflation and rising interest rates is already severely impacting carers and those supporting vulnerable people out in the community.

The threshold at which tax is applied on travelling costs should be reviewed and increased to help alleviate the burden placed on workers whose job demands that they make frequent journeys in their own vehicle and should accurately reflect the true cost of fuelling and the use of a vehicle by employees for business use.
