Airbnb must stop holiday lets in Coronavirus lockdown

Concerns holidaymakers exacerbating healthcare and medicine shortages

Airbnb should not take any holiday let bookings during the ongoing Coronavirus lockdown, Plaid’s Westminster Leader Liz Saville Roberts MP has said.

The holiday let booking site is still hosting hundreds of adverts for rooms and homes across the UK, with many in picturesque parts of Wales. One recently removed post for a holiday let in Harlech, north Wales explicitly targeted “escapees from covid19 city”.

Plaid Cymru Westminster leader, Liz Saville Roberts MP, today met with the Prime Minister to discuss the escalating crisis over the Covid-19 pandemic.

During the meeting, which was attended by Plaid Cymru, the SNP, Liberal Democrats, and the Green Party, Liz Saville Roberts presented a package of measures to protect the people of Wales from the worst effects of the public health crisis and the associated economic threats.

Work begins to restore road leading to Bardsey Island

Work to repair a country lane that leads to Porth Meudwy at Uwchmynydd in Aberdaron has begun in earnest, following small landslides on this important road during the wet autumn last year that leads fishermen, workers and visitors to Bardsey Island.

An investment of £170,000 has been confirmed from the Welsh Government's Economy and Transport Department, thanks to the work of Gwynedd Councillor for the area, Gareth Roberts.

Gwynedd to invest in a Pwllheli arts, community and educational hub

An iconic arts building in Pwllheli will receive over £500,000 investment to benefit residents of Llŷn and the surrounding area, according to Plaid Cymru's cabinet member for communities and economic development on Gwynedd Council, Gareth Thomas this week.

Gwynedd Council's cabinet supported the Councillor's recommendation to invest £570,000 in Neuadd Dwyfor offering an innovative multi-purpose provision to local residents keen to enjoy theatre, cinema and library services.

High time rights to indicate nationality on election form is changed

A Councillor from Llŷn at Gwynedd’s full council meeting at Caernarfon today (Thursday 5 March), will be calling for change to the ‘Household Inquiry Form’ sent to electors for voting so that a choice is given with regards nationality on the form.

At present, the UK Government form only has a 'British' box to tick, making it impossible to identify your nationality as Welsh, Scottish, Irish and so on. There is a £1,000 fine if the form is not entered correctly.

Welcome investment to improve children’s safety outside Ysgol Tanygrisiau

Gwynedd Councillor for Tanygrisiau, Annwen Daniels is delighted to hear that a campaign to improve safety for pupils at the school's main entrance has come to fruition.

For two years, the County Councillor who represents Bowydd, Rhiw and Tanygrisiau has been pressing for financial support to help the school improve access to the site, so that there is less risk for primary school pupils stepping out on to the road when leaving school at the end of the day.

A health board has been accused of trying to gag its employers, following a whistleblower leaking an email asking staff not to sign a petition regarding one of the Board's services.

Plaid Cymru's Mabon ap Gwynfor, who is also the party's candidate for the National Assembly in Dwyfor-Meirionnydd, started a petition urging the Welsh Government's Health Minister and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board to ensure the continuation of the North Wales Heart Failure Service, which he says is under threat because of the Board's failure to provide permanent contracts to the service's staff.
