Maintain nursing bed provision on Pen Llŷn

We are calling on the Health Board and Welsh Government to ensure that we have nursing bed provision on Pen Llŷn

There are concerns about the future of Penrhos nursging home, following the news that the Polish Housing Society is intending to close the site by March 2021.

There are hopes that another organisation will take the site on, but doubts about the future of the nursing beds.

Penrhos has played an important part in the recent history of Pen Llŷn, and it's a nursing home for the people of Pen Llŷn.

There is no other nursing home on the peninsula, which means that people would have to travel to Cricieth, Porthmadog or further afield in order to have a place in another nursing home. There is a demand for nursing beds in Pen Llŷn.

It is the duty of the Health Board and Welsh Government to ensure that our needs are provided for. As the population gets older and our health needs more complex, the damend for nursing care increases.

We call on the Welsh Government and Health Board to work together and ensure that nurse bed provision continues here in Pen Llŷn.

I have worked at the polish home since 1988 when I was 18. After 32 years this is devastating news. I look after residents in the sheltered accommodation, many now have moved into the nursing home as they couldn’t manage without extra help. It’s heartbreaking the situation they have been put in. They were putting their trust in us all to see out their lives in what they consider their home. Some have been here over 20 years. I am looking after the children of some residents so next generation !

I just hope that the health board can give them a lifeline.

For the residents, the workers the staff and most importantly the local people who will need a nursing bed for their parents or grandparents in the future ❤️

It’s important to keep these beds for patients in dwyfor. Their are little beds already.
