Safeguard The Cambrian Coast Line

Sign the Petition!

We call on Transport for Wales (TFW) and Welsh Government to safeguard services on the Cambrian Coast Line, which serves as a vital transport link for both local residents and the Gwynedd visitor economy.

Communities served by the Cambrian Coast line depend on the service for education, employment, tourism, shopping, and health reasons. The service is particularly invaluable to the elderly and to those without a car.

Instead of cutting further services, Transport for Wales and Welsh government should be actively investing in local transport links across north west Wales, ensuring local people and visitors are afforded robust, reliable, and accessible train services.

Thank you for all your efforts. The loss of that late train has a huge impact.

The line is vital to the running of my tourism business. We have contracts in places for guests from the Netherlands who are doing a train tour of the UK. Coastal Path walkers use the train to access the coast between Criccieth and Tywyn using us as a base.

Businesses in Barmouth, especially The Dragon Theatre, have lost an enormous amount of revenue with the cancellation of bus and train services. Under the new hard working management of both paid and volunteers, the theatre was on the up and now all that hard promotion work has gone to waste. The theatre is very much part of Barmouth and area (as far as Cricieth and Dolgellau) community life and wellbeing

I know a family who concluded it was necessary last summer to move away from the coast deeper into mid-Wales, specifically to no longer be wholly dependant on the systematic unreliability and reduction in reasonable Customer Service over the past 3-4 years, which is indifferently and inequitably managed from Cardiff/ Taffs Well – treating us dependant customers & prospective customers of the Cambrian Coast as though the communities served by the line are shamefully no better than the 3rd class passengers of the Titanic in 1912. As a public service TFW should begin to respectfully treat and value all passengers/ prospective passengers equitably where ever we are across the TFW network, and allow us as equal travel opportunities to places of work, education, health and social interaction/ entertainment across the breadth of our working day and mid to late evening leisure time.

Please, please safeguard the Cambrian Line. It is a vital service for commuters, visitors and day trippers alike. Why should Wales suffer at the hands of both greed, indifference and apathy?
