Right to Strike
I can assure you that Plaid Cymru will be unwavering in our commitment to workers’ right to strike and will take advantage of all opportunities that arise to oppose legislation that would make it harder for workers to do so.
The ability to withhold one’s labour is a fundamental right that rests at the heart of a civilised society and constructive industrial relations.
Restricting that right or empowering employers to take disciplinary action against employees who undertake industrial action would be authoritarian.
I voted against the Strikes (Minimum Service Levels) Bill but unfortunately it was passed by 308 votes to 248 votes against.
Please be assured that I shall continue to oppose these measures in Parliament and hope that we will succeed in defeating the Government.
Rt Hon. Liz Saville Roberts MP
