Universal Credit
Nearly a decade and a half of austerity has had a severe impact on our poorest communities. That is why Plaid Cymru are pressing for full control of Universal Credit, as Westminster’s refusal to deliver a decent welfare system makes the devolution of this matter more urgent than ever.
The powers to alleviate poverty lie mainly with the UK Governments, and Plaid Cymru have called for Universal Credit payments to be increased, as well as calling for Local Housing Allowance to be reformed and for the repeal of the two-child cap on the per-child payment under Child Tax Credit.
I can assure you that Plaid Cymru MPs in Westminster will continue in our commitment to eradicating poverty.
Rt Hon. Liz Saville Roberts MP
