Maintain nursing bed provision on Pen Llŷn

We are calling on the Health Board and Welsh Government to ensure that we have nursing bed provision on Pen Llŷn

There are concerns about the future of Penrhos nursging home, following the news that the Polish Housing Society is intending to close the site by March 2021.

There are hopes that another organisation will take the site on, but doubts about the future of the nursing beds.

Penrhos has played an important part in the recent history of Pen Llŷn, and it's a nursing home for the people of Pen Llŷn.

There is no other nursing home on the peninsula, which means that people would have to travel to Cricieth, Porthmadog or further afield in order to have a place in another nursing home. There is a demand for nursing beds in Pen Llŷn.

It is the duty of the Health Board and Welsh Government to ensure that our needs are provided for. As the population gets older and our health needs more complex, the damend for nursing care increases.

We call on the Welsh Government and Health Board to work together and ensure that nurse bed provision continues here in Pen Llŷn.

Penrhos Nursing Home provides essential nursing and personal residential care for adults on Pen Llyn. Palliative care and sheltered housing is also provided. The property is kept in very clean condition and staff take special care of the residents. It is the only nursing home on the Peninsula and, as such, must remain open with staff continuing to care for people who require help and assistance that cannot be provided “at home”. More nursing homes are needed not closures.
