Maintain nursing bed provision on Pen Llŷn

We are calling on the Health Board and Welsh Government to ensure that we have nursing bed provision on Pen Llŷn

There are concerns about the future of Penrhos nursging home, following the news that the Polish Housing Society is intending to close the site by March 2021.

There are hopes that another organisation will take the site on, but doubts about the future of the nursing beds.

Penrhos has played an important part in the recent history of Pen Llŷn, and it's a nursing home for the people of Pen Llŷn.

There is no other nursing home on the peninsula, which means that people would have to travel to Cricieth, Porthmadog or further afield in order to have a place in another nursing home. There is a demand for nursing beds in Pen Llŷn.

It is the duty of the Health Board and Welsh Government to ensure that our needs are provided for. As the population gets older and our health needs more complex, the damend for nursing care increases.

We call on the Welsh Government and Health Board to work together and ensure that nurse bed provision continues here in Pen Llŷn.

My mother is a resident of the Polish Home Care Unit and moving her would cause immense upset and problems

I lived near Penrhos for 15 years and was amazed what good works those lovely people did, not only in the home. I support 100% your efforts to save it. Good luck

Hopefully these people in positions of power who make the decisions really consider not only the history but as important how important this established facility is to the local community in a rural area. Unfortunately the people who make the decisions have no idea of how long it can take to travel to see loved ones on the Lleyn peninsula especially in summer.

All local people of all ages need to protest as the people most impacted are the elderly who are unlikely to have access to the appropriate IT.

There is a distinct lack of All Health Care in Pen Llyn and to lose this much loved Nursing home would be very sad. Travelling to visit elderly and frail relatives should be avoided.

Too many health and social care provisions are too far away from this rural community. We can’t afford to lose more and this place is part of the Llyn community.
